Efflorescence is very dangerous to the integrity of surfaces and can seriously effect the structural integrity of the surface. Efflorescence is the crystalline deposits on surfaces like concrete, brick, stucco or masonry. Efflorescence is always whitish in appearance, and is often referred to as "whiskers" or "salt petering.". The formation of these salt deposits deface, detract and undermine the structural integrity of the effected surfaces. Groundwater is often the source of efflorescence. The more dense the material, whether it be brick, stucco, stone, masonry or concrete, the more difficult for the water to transport salts to the surface.
